CENTRE FOR RESEARCH and INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS (CRIP)

The Center for Research and International Programs was established by the Senate of Delta State University at its meeting of 25th January, 2005. The purpose of the Center is to build relationships and contacts with other universities within and outside Nigeria, research Institutions, agencies and governments for the promotion of research and training, scholarship and international understanding.

VISION

The Center aligns with Delta State University’s vision as a focal point of academic excellence through teaching, research, innovation and community services at both national and international levels. To achieve this vision, the Center encourages result-oriented research activities by exposing staff and students to existing research opportunities and by fostering academic partnership both at national and international levels with other universities, research institutions and other agencies within and outside Nigeria.

MISSION

The mission of the Center is to assist Delta State University in promoting qualitative education through research exposure, participation and capacity building for staff and students.

The mission of Delta State University is to promote quality education, character and cultural transformation to meet the challenges of our time through exemplary scholarship and professionalism for the purpose of addressing local, national and international issues in key areas so as to contribute to the improvement of the global community.

SCOPE of ACTIVITIES of THE CENTER

This involves collaboration with other Universities, research institutions and other agencies in the areas of:

  1. Staff/student exchange program
  2. Joint research activities
  3. Cultural exchange programs
  4. Joint supervision of students’ research projects and postgraduate research
  5. Exchange of academic information and materials

University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast Ghana: The Center has established linkages/collaborative relationship with University of Cape Coast Ghana in the following areas.

i)                    Staff/Student exchange program; During the 2018/2019 session four students participated in the student academic exchange program for one semester in the following disciplines: Accounting Banking and Finance, Economics and Human Anatomy and Cell Biology. Currently another set of three students are being prepared for the academic exchange program for the 2019/2020 session in the following areas; Computer sciences, Medical Biochemistry and Genetics and Biochemistry

ii)                  Others areas being considered with UCC, Ghana include joint research/teaching activities where a lecturer/researcher is billed to travel to DELSU Nigeria from UCC Ghana, to participate in research/teaching activities for one semester during the 2019/2020 academic session.

ORGANIZATION

The Center is a specialized unit under the Vice Chancellor’s office and is headed by a Director, who is assisted by senior administrative and junior staff. The current Director of the Center Is Professor Godfrey E. Akpojotor, he resumed duties on April 1, 2020.
