Inauguration of CRIP Committee

THE SUMMARY OF THE SPEECH OF THE CHAIRIMAN/DIRECTOR, PROF GODFREY E. AKPOJOTOR, AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE COMMITTEE OF FACULTY REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES (CFR-CRIP) ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2021 AT THE CRIP CONFERENCE ROOM

I welcome all of you to this epoch making ceremony of inaugurating the Committee of Faculty Representatives to the Centre of Research and International Programmes (CRIP). For us to appreciate the enormity of the challenges as well as the opportunities and prospects we are going to encounter, I guess it will be better I first present the strategic plan of the Centre. Please Admin give a copy of the strategic plan to all members. (This was done by the CRIP Admin. However, we are also posting a copy of the strategic plan here in our Committee forum as an attachment. After reading through the strategic plan with relevant elaborations and explanations, he continued his speech).

In the light of the above, we needed highly motivated representatives from the various faculties that have working knowledge of diverse ICT applications as many of our activities including some of our meetings will be via ICT for visibility when necessary and to minimize costs. Therefore, we appealed to all the Deans to help us with the selection of their faculty representative based on the above criteria and they graciously obliged.  Please when you return to your faculties, kindly tell your Deans that I wholeheartedly appreciate them for selecting and nominating you to represent your faculties.

Now the purpose of this Committee whose members will serve as liaising officers between CRIP and the faculties is to:

1.    make CRIP’s  communication and other activities with the faculties with regards to    research grants, fellowships, exchange programmes, conferences, etc more efficient and effective.

2.    help in coordinating the activities of the university alumni in their faculties as it is our plan to engage them to be more committed in partnering and developing the university

3.    help in coordinating monthly (or bimonthly) Webinar/Colloquium in their faculties with the    Guest Speakers to be invited from any part of the globe.

4.    help in developing and implementing a strategic plan on how to improve our university ranking.

Though as I have repeatedly postulated, I am tempted to imagine that this Committee with these unique mandates as well as highly recommended members, is the first of its kind, at least in CRIP, I have high hope and strong faith that our activities and accomplishments will definitely be the first of their kinds in this university.

Therefore, on behalf of our visionary Vice Chancellor, Prof Andy O. Egwunyenga, I hereby inaugurate this Committee of Faculty Representatives to the Centre of Research and International Programmes in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
